Your Website is great! My uncle was a crew member on the 'Swamp Rat'; Radio Operator and waist gunner. The crew photos reveal much of that period of world history. I am grateful to you for giving me the opportunity to view them.

Hello, this Sam Stein of 721st. Does anyone remember a B-24 crashing at takeoff sometime in 1944 (it couldn't get altitude)into the olive grove. It was fully loaded and exploded. I was a ways back in the olive grove and woke up unconscious in the hospital. Does anyone remember this incident or the name of the military hospital? Thanks....Sam Stein 781-344-6092.

My dad Herbert Britt passed away 20 years ago. I am trying to collect information and or photos of his time with the 450th. So far I have the 723rd squadron and 3 names - Nick Mandela, Jim Sheehan, and a Keith (unknown last name) If anyone has any information it would be appreciated. Also known are his missions flown from July 1944 - March 1945. I would also like to know the name of his plane. Thank you

(continued)Meanwhile, Lt. Inglett somehow crash-landed the plane with one other crewmember aboard. Fortunately, everybody survived. As my father was floating earthward, he could see ground forces but did not know if they were friend or foe. Fortunately, he landed 100-yards from Polish Army headquarters with the Allied forces. The Allies had just captured this area within the previous 24-hours! The Polish troops picked up the crew and my father put his ability to speak Polish to good use so they were well taken care of and transported back to Manduria. My father finished his 50 missions and rotated back to the States. I don’t know what happened to the rest of the crew on this plane. Can anybody provide any more information? Sincerely, Jim Ciborski

On August 29, 1944, 62 years ago today, my father, T/Sgt John Ciborski (flight engineer/gunner, 720th Bomb Squadron) had to bail out when his plane took heavy flak damage. I am trying to find out more details about this plane and crew. The plane was aircraft #378 but I don’t know the full number. I would also like to know if the plane had a nickname and nose art. The pilot was Lt. Inglett, but I don’t know who any of the others were in the crew. This was not my father’s original crew which had been shot down on June 13, 1944 without him (he was part of Lt. Homer Smith’s “Babe in Arms” crew). When the plane was hit they were on a mission against the Po River railroad bridge in northern Italy. After being hit the crew threw as much out as possible but they were losing altitude and were ordered to bail out. All but two bailed out, including my father. He hurt his back badly when he hit the ground and several others suffered sprained ankles. Meanwhile, Lt. Inglett somehow crash-landed the plane with one other crewmember aboa

Hello, As the youngest member of my generation of Dalenta family members it has been a great pleasure to view a photo of my cousin Pat. He has the absolute distinctive features of a male Dalenta, the chisseled brow and cheek bones are a comforting viewing experience. I only wish that I could have met him to speak to him. Prayers and best wishes to all, Diane
