Comments Phil Kraus did exquisite work many years ago to repair a Martin guitar made in 1943. He mentioned some of his USAAF experiences. Phil was a master craftsman. I saw today 8/9/06 of his passing in the Dallas News obituaries. God bless his kind and his family

Comments My grandfather ( Frank Vodarick) was assigned to the 459th. I am looking for any information that personnel may have on him or any of his missions. I also remember reading a book he had on the 459th, I beleive it was titled " the Cottontails" but i cannot find it anywhere. Does anyone know if this is the correct title.

Comments MANY THANKS to the Webmasters for all they have done to keep this website viable. I have a request for the readers of this website. I'm in search of Missing Records . . . I flew as the co-pilot on the Captain John Paul Jones, Jr. crew. After he was wounded, the crew was taken over by First Lieutenant Roger A. Kent. We were with the 723rd SQ. During our time there, we suffered two crashes. One happened at Capodichino, Italy (8-44) and the other on the Island of Vis, off the Dalmatian Coast (10-44). There is NO official record of the disposition of the two incidents. I am hoping that some member of the maintenance or a ground crew chief of the 723rd kept a log of the B-24s in his charge, and noticed the absence of two planes upon mission return. I don't know the S/Ns of either plane, but the name of the Vis B-24 was “No,No Nanette". Any information of the planes and/or crew would be genuinely welcomed. Respectfully, Andy J. Benedict. ajbdad1@wmconnect.com

Comments I recently rode my motorbike to Germany, I stopped off at St avold France and noticed the military cemetery and decided to pay my respects. Of all the 10500 graves I took note of one service man's gravestone A "2nd Lt Philip H Scanlon" and decided as a mark of respect to find out more about this fallen hero and find myself looking at the 450th BG web site. I have nothing but admiration and respect for all who served and the many who paid the ultimate price like so many of my countymen.

Comments Phil has joined other tail gunners as he passed away on June 22, 2006 while in the company of his family. He was 82. I will miss seeing him walking his dog in the early morning and listening to him relate his experiences in the B-24 which flew from bases in Italy to the bail out and capture to his escape and journey back to the American lines. Phil was very proud of his family and always worked them into our talks. I am honored to have called you friend. Thanks Phil. Bob

Comments Update on my grandfather, Harold Dennis Bosserman (I signed guestbook back in Feb 2006). Harold died on June 14th. He was 83. How fitting that he past away on Flag Day. He was buried today and a couple of airplanes flew overhead when the chaplin from the VFW was speaking. His burial site is very close to an airport suited for small engine plans. Thanks again PawPaw!!! I will miss you!!! Ashley S Leach Grandson of Harold Dennis Bosserman

Comments The Site Update of all the combat missions the 450th flew were sure a big help to me. My certified copy of my combat missions only listed the locale and not the specific bomb target. I was glad after a long time to get this specific information to complete my own records. Thanks for a great job in this.
