My father TSgt. Duane Corporon 450th BG 722sqd. flew as flight engineer on the B-24 Fast Freight from May 1944 to Feb. 1945 completing 33 missions. I was pleased to find a photo of the 'Fast Freight' and will send a photo taken in April of 1944 of the flight crew to go along with the photo of the plane. It has given him great pleasure to see the picture of their plane and know that there is such a site dedicated to the men who served with the 450th. God Bess all who served with the 450th, both flight and ground crews. Anyone wishing to contact my father can email me and I will be happy to forward the message as he is reluctant to tackle a computer. I have been able to get some video of him talking about his time in the service and the local paper is doing some articles on the veterans. For more information check out palaciosbeacon.com.

My wife's uncle, Lt. Frank Johnstone, 450 BG, 721 Squadron, is missing in action since 25Feb45, over Linz, Austria. His B24 took heavy flak, was last seen flying under control and maintaining altitude. Plane crashed; others of the crew were ID'd by dogtags, but Frankie's tags, nor any effects, were ever found. They were on a mission to bomb railroad yards in Linz. Shortly after entering target area, his plane was disabled by heavy flak. Has been rumored to have been a POW. Crash site: 48 dg 18' N, 14 dg 18' E. Any word from someone who knew him, knew about the mission, or has suggestion on how to look, etc, would be appreciated. This is my first effort to make contact. My grandfather, Leo F. Rogers, was a pilot for the 450th BG 721st SQ based in Manduria, Italy. I have been spending a lot of time on this site the past month and have found a lot of wonderful material. Thanks to him, and countless other heros like him, we can all enjoy our freedom. God bless all of you.

I wrote last year about my grandfather, Edgar J. Geilinger, of the 722nd. I am sad to pass on to any of you who may have known him, that he died early this morning of heart and lung complications. He flew on "My Akin #@%" and was proud to have served his country. I anticipate a military funeral. God Bless.

I read with great interest Marvin Stock's account of his service with the 723rd Squadron. It was particularly interesting because it paralleled the experience of my brother, Theodore (Mannie) Fitch who was with the 723rd in the same time period, June to December 1944, and in fact he mentions having played cribbage with my brother. I would like very much to contact Marvin Stock if anyone knows his address or phone number. Thanks, Archer Fitch

As a former member of the AirForce (discharged-1968) and a brat of the 8th I found your story of life during WW-2 very interesting and touching. I came upon your site by accident but glad I did. I am in search of information about a unit Called the 6th Air Drone-8th AAF. My father was a member of that unit. I would like to know their history. All I have is a few photos his 8th shoulder patch and his ribbons which I cheerish deeply. To you and the men of your unit I say thanks for a job well done. God bless and be safe always.

My father, Baptista J. Sartori Jr. was a member of the 450th BG 722nd Squadron. On the morning of June 26, 1944 his plane "I'll Get By" was shot down. He was subsiquently captured and was a POW at Stalag Luft IV and I. I first would like to commend all those who flew during the war. Their bravery, courage, and comittment secured the freedom and peace that we have today. Many never returned and many are still fighting the battles this day. I pray for all that they may find the peace that they earned and deserve. I would like to hear from any survivors who knew my father. He is currently suffering from dementia. He was not only my father, but he was my best friend. I would welcoming hearing from any of you and again I thank you all from the bottom of my heart, Thank you John B. My Dad was in the 721st, a T/Sgt Radio Oper/Tail Gunner. Shot down over Ploesti in Aug of 1944, released Sept 7. He listed his ship as Bottoms Up in his notes, but is not show under the ship name. My Dad died May 30 1958 from brain and lung cancer. I have been collecting information from my mother and interested in his military past. The only name I have found from his time in Italy is Ed Mazell (letter in 1958 fm Tulsa, OK refers to being in combat with him, but Ed is not listed on the roster. I will continue to search records and provide any information I can to the website. Thanks

I'll be stopping by the reunion to see if I can track down anyone who knew or flew with my father, Paul Eisler, who was a bomberdier with the 723rd from Nov. 44 through the end of the war. He was a short guy, sometimes wearing a Clark Gable mustache, and a dedicated musician and poker player. If anyone coming to the reunion remembers him, please e-mail or call me, toll free, at 1-800-872-3410, ext. 5822.

My father-in-law is Joe M Williams(From Clarendon, Texas) and he was a Co-Pilot with the 450th Bomber Group 720th Squadron. He lives in Harlingen Texas. He flew with Thomas R Leslie(Milford, Texas PILOT), Robert L Schaefer(Brainerd MN NAVIGATOR), Walter R Scott(Houston Texas, TAIL GUNNER), Joseph A Gigliotti(Utica NY RADIO-GUNNER), Vincent A Deuerling(Pittsburgh PA NOSE GUNNER), John R Houston(Westhaven Conn. ARMOR-BELLY GUNNER), Edward S Opella(Shenandoah PA ENGINEER-GUNNER)& Reynaldo E Martinez(Redlands CA UPPER TURRET GUNNER). I would love to hear from any of these men or their relatives so I can learn more of the personal history of the 450th BG 720 SQ. I am putting together a display to honor my Father In Law and in so honoring all the brave men of not only the 450th BG but all the men who put there lives in harms way to secure our freedom and democratic way of life. They are as Tom Brokaw said "The Greatest Generation". THANK YOU. And thank you sirs for this great web site so that these brave men can be honored.
