I am the daughter of Gordon Stewart Taylor, Jr. (Ret. Capt.) who was shot down over Yugoslavia on January 24, 1944, as a 2nd Lt. with the 720th. A friend's son sent this to me. This is awesome. Thank you. My dad lives in Denison,Tx. also. I will be forwarding this to him.

I'm worried about two of my dad's crewmembers from the 720th Squadron who live in the hurricane area. Homer (Bill) Smith lives in Arabi, LA. That's a suburb of New Orleans! Charles Brashier is in Quitman, MS which is not on the coast but probably close enough to have been affected. Would appreciate any information about them or how badly these towns were hit. Thank you, Jim Ciborski son of T/Sgt John Ciborski the "Babe in Arms"

Greetings from Colorado Springs! I'm hoping you can put this inquiry out to your membership via your newsletter or other means. I'm the assistant director for the Peterson Air and Space Museum on what is now Peterson AFB here in Colorado Springs. I'm presently putting together a new exhibit that will illustrate B-24 combat crew training operations at Peterson Army Air Base during 1943-1944. We have surprisingly little in the way of photographs, remembrances, and memorabilia from those who trained here, and I'm hoping to locate and correspond with any 450th BG Association members (or their relatives) that were stationed here for combat crew training. I can be contacted via e-mail at jeffrey.nash@peterson.af.mil, or through the museum web site at www.petemuseum.org. Or, your members can write or call me at: Peterson Air and Space Museum Attn: Jeff Nash 150 East Ent Ave Peterson AFB, CO 80914-1303 (719) 556-8314 Many thanks for your help, and for your service to your country. You have my assurance that o

After visiting the web-site i now know why it was difficult to get a full account of my fathers time in the service. he was with the 721st sq. and i know he spent time in italy because he spoke of the olive trees that were at the end of the runway. i'm looking for info on his crew and the plane he flew on. he was a nose gunner, his name is robert e. drake and his crew probably called him bobby. any information is greatly appreciated. god bless all of the 450th. true american heroes.

I wish to thank all those who have served in the 450th BG, 720th BG Squadron, and indeed, those who have helped in collecting the information presented in your webpage, for enlightening me on the collective heroic efforts in the European Theater during WW2, and in particular, information of my great-uncle, 2nd Lt, Samual R. Sprott, Jr, who died in the mission over Steyr, Austria on March 24th, 1944. I never met my grandmother's only son, who served with the 720th BM Squadron, but now have established a firmer respect for his memory and that of other members of my family and their valiant sacrifices to the war effort. I learned that Lt. Sprott's name was memorialized along with the members of his group/squadron in the Florence American Cemetary in Italy. His name is also on the WW2 Memorial on Main Street of his hometown of Walterboro, SC.

Surfed into your site. It was interesting to look over your mission log and compare the raids that my late brother DJ shared with your Group. They were on many many of the same raids. It amazes me that in all the missions, though all shot up, no creman ever got wounded. He was a Bombardier in the 512 Squadron of the 376th BG at San Pancrazio on 51 missions.

I was amazed at the accounts of the 450th's missions in Europe. My father, David Spofford, a T/SGT was stationed in England and maintained Norden bombsights and also Link trainers. He would have enjoyed these accounts of the 450th in action.
