Comments WBZ News reported that Father Jon Bruder (navigator, 721st Squadron, 450th BG) died peacefully on Thursday, March 31st, 2005 [http://wbz1030.com/vtnews/VT--Obit-Bruder-en/resources_news_html]. Fr. Bruder was a good man who shared his love with many. He enjoyed telling stories and I enjoyed listening to them or reading them in his book. Fr. Bruder liked to tell jokes too, so when he told me the following, I wasn't sure whether it was a story or joke (forgive me if I get some details wrong): Fr. Bruder was riding in a trolley car in San Francisco, California when a young man noticed his clerical garb and asked him "What church do you belong to?" "The Catholic Church," said Fr. Bruder. "Never heard of it," said the Californian. "Well, what church do you belong to?" asked the incredulous Fr. Bruder. "The Church of the Tree," said the Californian with a straight face. Today I looked it up and there is a Church of the Tree of Life in San Francisco, so I believe it was a real experience. One time I trie

Comments Was helping a fellow pster in trying to find out info. on F/O George Stanley who was KIA on 2-23-44. Received several responses and was furnished with the MACR listing on 2-23-44 showing the seven losses from the 450th. that day. Have ruled out the 4 from the 723rd. which leaves us with three from the 721st. Think we have it narowed down to those. Thanks to all for the help.

Comments My uncle was Richard Cain. I believe he was in the 722nd BS and was shot down on 30MAY44 on a mission to Ebreichstdort, Austria. He was a POW until liberation. Any photos, data, crew names would be greatfully appreciated. I know his aircraft was possibly #42-94901 and the MACR is #5463 but I've been having trouble locating any info on either. Thanks.

Comments 60 years after WWII, a trip has been arranged for my dad to revisit the Home of the 450th in Manduria. My sister Donna, won a trip to Rome for two. I was with her when she won so I became her travel companion. Being the sisters we are and thinking the same thoughts we do, there was no way we were going without our Dad. And how in the world could we go without our brother and his wife? It was out of the question. How blest are we that we can all go together? We've seen the pictures, heard the stories, grew up listening to the 40's music, what a great generation of men and women. They are the epitomy of pride, honor and integrity. I only have 2 regrets...1) our mom won't be able to go with us...we will take her spirit. 2) "Heaven's Above" won't be there waiting for him...we'll just have to imagine the sound of engines firing up, the smell of the smoke and the mental picture of the beloved B-24 lumbering down the runway for take-off. We'll be sure to report back and see if the visit is all we hope it wil

Comments Does anyone know where one might find the names of crews lost on a mission ? I am trying to find out info on a George Stanley who was lost on 2-23-44. I think he may have been a replacement crew member on that day and was assigned to the 723 Sqdrn. Thanks for any help.
