Lt. Griffin and his crew arrived in Manduria on 10 March 1944 flying "Little Lady Joyce" 42-52519, affectionately called "Lady". They flew three combat missions in her. The Lady's fourth mission was with a new replacement crew. On 19 March 1944, Little Lady Joyce did not return from a mission to Graz, Austria.
On 4 April 1944 Lt. Griffin and his crew were assigned a new aircraft. They called her Little Lady Joyce II.
The crew, with the exception of Frank Davis who was sick and unable to fly, were shot down over Austria on 24 May 1944.
Harry Stewart is believed to have perished in the aircraft. The remaining crew were captured and endured the death marches as POW's
