A Letter From The Chaplain
HEADQUARTERS 450TH BOMBARDMENT GROUP (H)
Office of the Group Chaplain
APO-520, c/o PM New York
April 27, 1945
Dear Mrs. Rainey,
I want to thank you for your good letter of February 6, 1945.
I know that you are justly proud of your son, Tom, for he has aquitted himself most commendably since he is a member of this group.
Regarding the Air Medal, it is a decoration awarded to combat personnel who have flown several missions into enemy territory. It is indicative of great personal courage. Having watched these boys take-off
and return from flights to some of the most dangerous targets in this theatre of operations, I can assure you that they deserve all the recognition that can be given them.
By now you are aware of the fact that Tom has completed his tour of duty. The fact that God has been in his heart has been , I am sure,
a source of comfort and strength both to himself and to his loved ones.
Again, you may be justly proud of your son.
Sincerely yours,
John H. Keefe
Chaplain, (Capt.) USA
